◆怨霊（おんりょう）
- 解釈：奈良・平安時代、疫病流行や天変地異は、怨霊によるものだとの観念が生まれていた。それは、政争に敗れた天皇や皇族たち、菅原道真や平将門の霊魂は、怨霊となって祟っているのである。この怨霊を鎮めるために、朝廷は、度々御霊会を斎行した。これらの人たちは、御霊（神）として祀られた。

- Interpretation：The concept the Nara Heian Period, the plague fashion and an extraordinary natural occurrence choose as a revengeful ghost was born. A soul of the emperor, the members of the Imperial family, Sugawarano Michizane and Tairano Masakado defeated by political strife will be a revengeful ghost, and that troubles. An Imperial Court often executed Goryo-e ceremony to calm this revengeful ghost down. These people were deified as a spirit of the dead person (the god).
