- 解釈：程度を過ぎたことは、足らないのと同じようによくないの意。よい事でも度を越すと害になり、共に中庸（ちゅうよう）の徳に至らない。
- Literal：A grade's exceeding it are that insufficient it is a thing and that it is not so good.
- Interpretation：If a good thing also exceeds a grade, it will become damage and both will not reach a moderate virtue.
- 類義：薬も過ぎれば毒となる。過ぎたるは及ばざるに如（し）かず。
