- Interpretation：Please do become the representative of a small group, and do not become the member of a large group.
- 類義：芋頭でも頭は頭。大鳥の尾より小鳥の頭。鶏口となるも牛後となるなかれ。鯛の尾より鰯の頭。
- 反義：犬になるなら大家の犬になれ。大所の犬となるとも小家の犬となるな。箸と主とは太いがよい。寄らば大樹の陰。
