- 解釈：どちらが優れているか優劣がつけられないこと。負けず劣らずという意。中国漢の陳元方（ちんげんぽう）の子長文（ちょうぶん）と陳季方（ちんきほう）の子孝先（こうせん）の二人が父親の功績を論じて、優劣を競い合ったが、それぞれに優れて決着がつかなかった故事による。
- Literal：It does not seem to be an elder brother, and does not seem to be a younger brother.
- Interpretation：The superiority and inferiority is not acquired which is superior.
- 類義：伯仲（はくちゅう）の間。
