This site applies it for the people who can understand Japanese, but uses the English sentence together. The reason using an English sentence together is to have you know the outlook on Japanese ethic for people (people understanding English) of the English zone.
◇諺の効用 A proverbial use.
「諺（ことわざ）」は、日本人の常識です。諺を理解しないと、社会の中で、有意義な人生を送ることは出来ません。諺を理解し、活用することで、幸福な生涯が約束されます。
A "proverb" is Japanese common sense. People cannot lead the significant whole life in society, unless people understand a proverb. People are promised happy life when people utilize a proverb well.
◇付言 Additional remark.
私達日本人は、西洋思想・東洋思想を踏まえた上で、かつそれを乗り越える形で、自分自身の生涯、つまり「自尊心を必死に守りながら、社会の中の一個人として立場を堅持し、社会とともに人生を有意義に生き抜いて行こう」と心がけています。その指針を与えてくれるのが、「日本のことわざ」です。
We(Japanese) understand Western thought and Orient thought, and we conjugate. With that in mind, about own life, we keep it in mind when "we maintain a situation firmly as one person in the society while keeping pride desperately and will survive the life significantly with society." It is "a Japanese proverb" to give the guidance.
