◇父なる太陽がきらきら輝いて、気持ちのよい日。
The sun which is our fatherhood is brilliant brilliantly. That was a pleasant day.
「いる(居る)」だけで幸せな狸は、ますます楽しい気分で出かけた。
"There is" just, the happy racoon dog feels like being increasingly fun, and he has gone out.
川では「する(為る)」ことに懸命なビーバーがせっせとダム作り。
The beaver at which "act" is hard especially was building a dam diligently at a river.
遊ぼうよ、と誘う狸を無視して働き続けた。
"Let's play together," the racoon dog asked, but the beaver kept ignoring and doing that.
狸は仕方がないので、川の下流に落ち着き、ポカポカ陽差しを楽しんで「いる」ことにした。
There is no help for it. So the racoon dog got settled at the lower reaches on a river. He decided to enjoy warm sunlight and "be here".

 そのうちポツポツ雨が降りだした。
It has begun to rain sprinklingly soon.
ダム作りを「する」ことに夢中のビーバーは気づかない。
The beaver which was crazy about, "act" the making of dam did not notice.
雨はあっという間に豪雨となり、ビーバーが数日かけたダムは倒壊。
The rain became the heavy rain in no time. The dam where a beaver needed a few days for collapsed.
水面にいたビーバーは、流れだした大きな木の枝にはさまれ、溺れる寸前だった。
The beaver which was on the surface of the water was put to the branch of the big tree which began to flow. He is drowned; was just before.

「助けてくれー」というビーバーの叫びに、下流でぼうっとして「いた」狸がすぐ気づき、その生命を救った。
The beaver shouted "helped it". The cunning racoon dog was absentminded in the down stream, and "there is" noticed immediately. And the racoon dog saved the life.
それからビーバーと狸は仲の良い友達になったのだ。 ‐ ラコタ族の寓話
