A3 囁く風の月 The month of the whispered wind.  ‐ パワーアニマル The power animal.

◇創造の神は初めに海に魚を泳がせ、次に地に動物を這わせ、最後に人を創り、みんなに平等な地位と権利を与えた。
Firstly the god of the creation let a fish swim in the sea. The god trained an animal over the ground next. Finally the god made a person. And the god entitled all with an equal position.
そして動物の数だけ矢を作り、最も長い矢を渡した動物に最も大きな力を与えるようにと、人に命じた。
And the god made an arrow for only the number of the animal. The godo ordered a person "Give the biggest power to the animal to which the longest arrow was handed."

 コヨーテは寝ないで他の動物を出し抜き、一番乗りすることにした。
The coyote kept on taking out other animals without sleeping and decided to be the first to come.
夜中まで頑張ったが眠気に勝てず、木の枝で作ったビンで瞼を止めて、休むことにした。
He did its best until midnight. However, he was not able to win sleepiness. He stopped his eyelids with the bottle which he made with the branch of the tree and slept. 朝日が目に眩しくて起きられるからだ。
Because the morning sun is dazzling in an eye, and he can get up.
しかしコヨーテは寝込み、逆にピンは瞼をしっかり閉じた。
But the coyote was asleep and a pin closed an eyelid tightly conversely.

 結局、最も長い矢は豹がもらい、次は熊で、最後から二番目の矢は蛙がもらった。
In the long run a leopard got the longest arrow. The next is a bear. A frog got the second arrow from the end.
自分たちを出し抜こうとして、一番弱い動物になったコヨーテに、動物たちは大笑いしたが、笑いすぎた挙句に可哀想になり、神の慈悲を祈った。
The animals were going to circumvent oneself, and had a big laugh at the coyote which became the weakest animal. But after they laughed too much, they were pitifully, and wished for mercy of a god.
神はそれに応えて、コヨーテを他の動物たちより、ずる賢くしてやることにした。
The god responded to that, and a cunning fellow was wiser than other animals, and decided to do the coyote.
それでコヨーテはずる賢い動物になったのだ。 ‐ カロック族の寓話
